The next great MCU series shines in WandaVision - Marvel should definitely give it to us

WandaVision expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Disney. As the title suggests, the story revolves around Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany). In addition, the Marvel series is populated by many great characters who deserve their own spin-off.

Warning, spoilers for WandaVision will follow!

A great MCU spin-off is hiding in WandaVision

In the past few weeks, two candidates in particular have emerged who are very popular with fans: FBI agent Jimmy Woo and Dr. Darcy Lewis. We haven't seen either of these characters in any roles in the MCU before. Now they are coming more and more to the fore.

In WandaVision, Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis are now investigating the mysterious events in Westview. When the two are called to the scene, they have no idea what to expect there. However, it doesn't take long before they show not only expertise, but also great chemistry in the investigation.

X-Files in the MCU as a potential WandaVision spin-off

In short: Randall Park and Kat Dennings would be a perfect duo for a new MCU series based on a very big TV model. We're talking about the X-Files - The FBI's Creepy Cases. Where WandaVision has let off steam in sitcom history, the Jimmy Woo / Darcy Lewis spin-off could explore the mystery corner.

This thought has spread like wildfire on Twitter - and has already found a prominent voice behind the project. Actor and filmmaker Stephen Ford, known as Matt Daehler in the fantasy series Teen Wolf, said in a tweet what many fans want.

Based on the likes, retweets and replies, the tweet definitely hit a nerve. A few days later, Stephen Ford came up with an unexpected update and wrote that the spin-off idea could possibly find a hearing in the executive suite of Marvel. "I spend the weekend writing a pitch."

We do not know whether a meeting between Marvel and Stephen Ford has taken place in the meantime or is planned for the future. From the official side there is neither a confirmation nor a rejection. However, Ford emphasizes that he is an absolute underdog and the chances are very slim that his pitch will get through.

Randall Park and Kat Dennings on the WandaVision spin-off

The actors send out hopeful signals for this. NME asked Randall Park and Kat Dennings if they would be part of an X-Files spin-off in the MCU. Park's answer could hardly be more euphoric.

Dennings also leaves no doubt that she would sign an X-Files in the MCU right away.

The fans are already giving free rein to their creativity. Inspired by Stephen zxc idea, BossLogic (always a good point of contact for assemblies that fulfill fan requests) made a teaser poster that the S.W.O.R.D. Introducing Chronicles at Disney.

Based on the X-Files, ApexForm relies on the title The M Files and places Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis on a fan poster as if Fox Mulder and Dana Scully had lost their way in the bluish shade of office space in the MCU.

Now there's little else we can do but keep our fingers crossed that Disney and Marvel are giving this project a chance. My colleague Max also had the great idea that the X-Files could be turned over as a reference to the arrival of the X-Men. Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis are investigating mysterious cases caused by mutants - that definitely sounds exciting.
